From the people that brought you Dough and Say Cheese… comes Spring’s latest and greatest breakfast hit.

Tucked down a side street just off of Gouger, Market St combines corner-shop charm with industrial efficiency and jaw-dropping patisserie talent. The brainchild of Central Market heavyweights Dough and Say Cheese, Market St is many things, including bakery, cafe, grocer and commercial kitchen, churning out Dough's impeccable pastries.

Seating is minimal but well thought out, with street-facing windows letting in an abundance of natural light. On the menu you will find a diverse range of items such as Roquefort Soufflé, Black Sticky Rice with Coconut & Papaya, Brioche French Toast, and some pretty amazing toasties with fillings such as Corned Silverside and Gruyere, or Caramelised Chocolate and Banana.

There are also a range of pastries tarts and muffins to chose from, including zeppole (we told you so) from the Dough crew, as well as an intriguing mix of grocery items which line the walls. These range from milk and baked beans, to mushroom pate, and chilli chocolate cake mix, with seemingly no in between.

At first glance it may seem like this bakery/shop/restaurant has taken on too much to handle, but upon further inspection you can see it for what it truly is; a mini market. Market St have carefully carved out a slice of the Central Market and taken it away from the crowded setting, utilizing their combined market experience and adding a little more room to breath.

The cooking is elegant and the coffee is superb, while the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. This is the perfect place to go pre-market shop, or if you want the passion and produce of the Central Markets without the crowds and critters. Dough-lightful.
