Situated on Ebenezer place, SAD cafe is the brain-child from the team behind DAS Boutique; and let me just ensure you now, there is nothing dreary or sad about this little gem of a cafe!
With an emphasis on providing patrons with goods that are fresh as possible, local as possible and simple as possible, my inner foodie and supporter of all things local couldn't help but be excited. The menu is small with a selection of all-day breakfast and lunch options, although there is no doubt that every flavour and texture is considered before making it onto the plate.
After spending a considerable amount of time selecting a dish, the mushroom panini couldn't be ignored. Juicy and fragrant mushrooms rested on a soft panini roll and was accompanied with fresh peppery rocket, tomato, mozzarella cheese and sickly delicious caramelised onion. Flavorgasim!! 4/5
For those after a smaller breakfast or lunch option, their freshly baked bagels accompanied with cream cheese and fresh avocado easily goes down a treat! 3.5/5
And for the coffee, we can't forget about the coffee! As soon as you walk into SAD cafe, the smell of freshly ground coffee beans tantalises the senses. The coffee is fragrant, but unfortunately just a bit too milky. However, it was still pleasurable to drink and accompanied the meal well. 3/5
Overall, SAD cafe is certainly a great little spot to grab some breakfast or lunch with a friend. The service was friendly and relaxed yet attentive adding to its rustic yet comfortable atmosphere. With a selection of meat, vegetarian and vegan options there is certainly something for everyone!
