Expect it to be loud and intense - this gig isn’t for the weak hearted.

The Story So Far/Basement @ The Gov

One of the most epic co-headline tours is about to hit one of Adelaide’s best live music venues; The Gov. The Story So Far and Basement will be bringing their punchy lyrics and grungy sounds to the tour, to bless the ears of fans who haven’t heard them perform in Adelaide for, well, too long.

Basement had their fans on edge for a little while back in 2012, where they announced an indefinite hiatus after completing a tour in the US. Thankfully, the boys came to their senses and returned with more of what we love. Let’s not think about what would’ve happened if they didn’t. On the night. the opening riffs to Promise Everything will have those in the front row going mental, as well as upbeat tracks Disconnect and Be Here Now, from the new album Beside Myself .

The Story So Far, known mostly for their heavy bass-lines, and Parker Cannon’s classic punk rock style of singing, are somehow also just as great when it comes to their slower songs - huge reference to Loro and Upside Down. With 4 albums in the bank, TSSF have a multitude of music for fans to froth over, with their latest album being the one they’re most proud of.

With both bands having released new music late last year, this will be the first time their most recent albums will be played to an Adelaide crowd. I can confidently say that all fans will be just as excited to hear them perform.

It’s gonna be one hell of a show - grab your tickets here.

Cub Sport @ The Gov

The story behind Cub Sport is possibly the cutest band story you’ll ever hear about. Members Tim and Sam grew up together, where they were best mates for almost a decade, before realising they were in love.

Both coming from religious families, their love was hard to express and come to terms with, but through their music they’ve been able to tell their unique story which has positively impacted a lot of fans. In turn they’ve been able to let go of years of fear and shame surrounding their relationship.

cubsport bbbys.jpg

Writing songs about coming out, acceptance and being true to yourself, the boys’ epic love story has helped transform them into the influential band that they are today - campaigning for LGBTQI rights very heavily on their social media.

With a couple albums under their belts, new and old Cub Sport fans are in for a treat with performances from both BATS and This Is Our Vice sure to be heard on the night.

Tim will no doubt be seen with his iconic unbuttoned shirt look, and the crowd will with absolutely no hesitation be seen swaying, smiling, potentially even crying, as arguably the most moving Cub Sport song Come On Mess Me Up takes the stage.

Cub Sport really do know how to get down. Come along for a show built on love, pride, acceptance and most importantly fantastic music.

Sleep Talk @ Crown and Anchor

  • Google Calendar ICS

Sleep Talk will tear up the Cranka band room on April 5th, where they’ll be joined by fellow Adelaide pals Dress Code and Colourblind. Having played with some huge names including Turnstile, Endless Heights, Citizen and Turnover - Sleep Talk have managed to maintain a unique sound of their own.

‘Everything in Colour’ - the title track of what is to be their debut album, was released as a single in February this year and is a good indication to fans on what to expect from the album. Essentially, it’s a piece of work that most accurately represents what the band is all about.

The single is punchy, hearty and really draws you in with its alluring and calming vibe, before it goes a little more wild about halfway through. The juxtaposing vocals towards the end of the track are also a nice inclusion, and really complement the differing sounds.

The music scene in Adelaide is insane, and this gig will be no exception.

O’Fiesta is happening once again in 2019 and is here to help you ring in the new uni year, minus the homework part.

This year’s lineup features festival favourites,The Jungle Giants and Confidence Man, as well as Vera Blue, who after appearing on The Voice Australia has now worked her way into the Australian festival scene where she is well-loved.

Japanese Wallpaper will also perform on the day, bringing with him his pop-synth sounds that are sure to have everyone in the crowd swaying in total euphoria. Latest single ‘Fooling Around’ has the potential to be a favourite for the day, while older tunes including ‘Forces’ and ‘Waves’ will have die hard fans swooning.

St Jerome's Laneway Festival @ Old Harts Mill

Arguably one of the best days on the Aussie music calendar, Laneway returns to Adelaide in 2019 to bring a little bit of magic to the Western suburbs.

Crowd favourites Gang Of Youths will be headlining the day, majority of fans I assume making the trek purely for Dave Le'aupepe’s infamous dance moves. And what’s a festival lineup without Skegss?

Many female acts including Camp Cope, Courtney Barnett, Ruby Fields and Jorja Smith are also set to hit the stage - a nice addition to the often male dominated lineups.

Laneway will take place on the 8th of February and being it’s 15th year running, will no doubt be one to remember.

Crown and Anchor, voted ‘Best Music Venue’ in the 2018 SA Music Awards and host to another one of Adelaide’s favourite one day festivals; A Day of Clarity, guarantees Swirl Fest punters a fantastic experience.

Homegrown legends Colourblind, Zen Panda and Dead Roo will hit the stage on the day, as well as Siamese, who will bless the crowd with their distinctive grungy sound one last time after announcing their split late last year.

The lineup also features various interstate acts including Baby Blue, Vintage Crop and Foam. Sounds pretty bloody good to me.

Performing Tell All Your Friends and Louder Now in full, the gig is set to be nostalgic as ever. The crowd no doubt will be singing, or screaming, in unison as hits such as Make Damn Sure, Error Operator, and Cute Without The ‘E’, make the stage.

After visiting Australia for a series of sold out shows in 2013, LA three-piece Black Rebel Motorcycle Club have announced that they’ll once again return for a run of shows to showcase their much anticipated new album, expected in early 2018.

Since their debut release in 2001, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club have made a name for themselves on a global scale. By fusing together elements of the psych, space rock, noise-pop and classic rock and roll that weave themselves across five acclaimed studio albums, BRMC live shows have often been hailed as events rather than mere gigs; a dynamic showcase of dark, brooding rock mixed with an energetic show you can’t take your eyes off.

British India @ The Gov!

‘Forgetting The Future’ is the 6th studio album from Melbourne rock royalty British India. Featuring current single Precious, it’s set for release on September 22 via the hyped team at Liberation. Today the band are excited to reveal the visually arresting video for Precious, as well as announce a mammoth 35-date national tour in support of their forthcoming LP.

After five hugely successful albums, British India found themselves at crossroads. ‘Forgetting The Future’ is the story of them destroying their world in order to live in it. For the first time, the band teamed up with an external producer; voyaging into previously unknown sonic territory with Holy Holy’s Oscar Dawson. This revolutionary approach has led the band to create an explosive album that is their most ambitious and textured to date. “We were tapping into the same ferocity you feel when you first start writing songs,” vocalist Declan Melia says. “Just going for it, getting songs out without overthinking them, fast and hard. The way I see it, the sound is futuristic but it’s still raw.”

Throughout a remarkable 10 year career, British India have attained four Top 10 ARIA albums, seven entries into the Hottest 100 and their single I Can Make You Love Me is also accredited Gold in Australia. The band’s previous LP, ‘Nothing Touches Me’ featured popular singles, Suddenly and Wrong Direction which have collectively accumulated over 3 million Spotify streams

"Rock music in the seventies was changed by three bands—the Sex Pistols, the Ramones and The Saints." (Bob Geldof)

On the 40th anniversary of the release of The Saints’ classic album ‘(I’m) Stranded’, founding member, guitarist and songwriter Ed Kuepper will revisit the material performed by that seminal band from an era when a suburban Brisbane band took their sound to the world.

"I don't think that anyone, myself included, would have thought that this material I wrote when I was starting out would still have currency after all this time....but here we are celebrating it's 40th anniversary. I'm actually pretty chuffed about doing it and have got a top notch band together to play the stuff.” - Ed Kuepper
